Corrections
Valtor asks to be trusted on its method, so its mistakes belong in the record too. This page says how to report an error, what happens when you do, and lists every correction made.
Reporting an error
Write to zaro@valtorpartners.com or use the contact form. Say which piece, which sentence or figure, and what you think is wrong. A link to a source showing the right figure makes it quicker to check, but you do not need one to write.
What happens next
Every report is read and checked against the source the piece cites and against any source you send. You get a reply either way: what was changed, or why the piece stands as it is.
How a corrected piece is marked
Typing errors, broken links and wording that changes no meaning are fixed without a note.
An error of fact, such as a wrong figure, date, name, source or attribution, is corrected in the text, and a dated note is added to the piece saying what it said before and what it says now. The same correction is entered in the log below.
An error that changes a finding is handled the same way, except that the note goes at the top of the piece, the conclusion is rewritten in the open, and the log entry says that the finding changed.
A wrong figure is stated in the note, not erased, and a piece is never taken down to hide a mistake. New data is not a correction: every figure on the site carries the date it was true, and when later data changes the picture, that is a new piece, not a quiet edit to an old one.
